Guidelines for setting up a business in Dubai

Step 1: Starting your business in Dubai

  • Determine the activity
  • Reserve the trade name and Initial approval
  • License Issuance
  • Fees payment for company establishment
  • Issuance of the necessary permit
  • Booking an appointment with Ms. Heyam Abdul Salam – Head of the VIP section in the DED (Dubai Economic Department) head office, the local sponsor or the foreign partner have to be present in person along with the documents listed previously.

 Step 2: Initial Approval

  • Complete the Registration and licensing E- form
  • Passport, ID and naturalization copies for the local holder and the passport copy of the manager in charge
  • Non Objection letter from the local sponsor to open an office in Dubai
  • Approval of the Dubai Chamber for No objection to open an office in Dubai
  • Reservation of the trade name through DED

 Step 3: Reserve the trade name

  • Determine and reserve the trade name of the business either by visiting the DED branches or online
  • Upon the completion of the trade name reservation, you will have a trade name certificate which is valid for 60 days and subject to renewal
  • License issuance: upon the completion of the issuance of the license, the following documents shall be submitted:
License certificate:
  • Trade license certificate for trade and industrial licenses
  • Dubai chamber certificate for trade licenses and licenses registered in the chamber
The trade name reservation fees are AED210, payment can be done online through the DED website or by visiting one of the DED branches.

 Step 4: License Issuance

  • Attaching the initial approval slip along with all documents submitted previously
  • Photocopy of the office tenancy contract
  • For civil works companies: a civil work company contract duly notarized by the notary public in the emirate of Dubai

NB: Servcorp contracts do not require EEJARI and RERA as they are preapproved from the DED

Step 5: Fees for establishing a company

  • AED 110 → Initial Approval
  • AED 210 → Trade name reservation
  • Activities fess + the Market fees 5% + Other fees. All fees can be paid by visiting one of the DED branches or via DED's online services.
